Charlotte Crosby, the former star of Geordie Shore, has revealed that she was hospitalized with suspected pneumonia after suffering from a persistent cough and chest infection for weeks. The 33-year-old reality TV personality shared the news with her fans on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday (December 12), along with a photo of herself in cream-colored pyjamas.
Charlotte explained that she had been ignoring her symptoms for a long time, while continuing to work and travel across the country. She said that she had lost her voice on several occasions and had failed to respond to two courses of antibiotics. She finally decided to seek medical attention after her condition worsened last week.
"It's been a very long 5/6 weeks of on and off coughing/ chest infections. And the whole time I've been struggling I've been doing the very most work-wise," she wrote. "Travelling up and down the country, trains, cars and almost planes. A couple of occasions even losing my entire voice at work. I've not been able to carry out some of the stuff I've had to."
She continued: "Only last week it just got so bad it was unbearable. Not even having 1 minute in between coughing fits! After 2 courses of antibiotics failed to shift anything I finally realised I had to slow the f*** down and get to hospital... So that's where I spent most of yesterday in and out of doctors and hospital! with suspected pneumonia. I've been able to come home now and rest at home with a new course of antibiotics. So this is where I shall be for the foreseeable."
Charlotte thanked her followers for their messages of support and said that she was feeling "a little bit better" after resting. She also joked that she looked like a "little old lady" in her pyjamas and slippers.
Charlotte's hospitalization comes just a month after she announced her engagement to her boyfriend of two years, Jake Ankers. The couple, who welcomed their first child, Alba Jean, in November 2022, shared the happy news on social media in early November, showing off Charlotte's diamond ring.
Charlotte recently opened up about her plans to have more children and a long engagement with Jake, during an appearance on This Morning. She said that she wanted to have five kids and that she loved being a mum. She also said that she was not in a rush to get married and that she expected her wedding to take place in 2026 or 2027.
Charlotte rose to fame as one of the original cast members of Geordie Shore, the British version of Jersey Shore, which aired from 2011 to 2016. She also won the 12th series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and appeared on several other reality shows, such as Ex on the Beach, Just Tattoo of Us, and The Charlotte Show. She has also launched her own clothing and makeup lines, as well as a fitness app.
