A new photo of Prince Louis has been released by Kensington Palace, showing the adorable three-year-old blowing out a candle on a festive cake.
The snap was taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, who also shared an emotional message ahead of the Together At Christmas carol service, which will be broadcast on ITV on Christmas Eve.
In the message, Kate thanked the public for their support and generosity during the pandemic, and praised the work of the Royal British Legion, which organises the annual service.
She said: "This year, more than ever, we have been reminded of the strength of human spirit and the power of community. The Royal British Legion has been at the heart of this, supporting our veterans and their families throughout this difficult time."
She added: "As we approach Christmas, I want to thank you all for your continued kindness and generosity. You have made a huge difference to so many people, and I hope you enjoy watching this special service of remembrance and celebration."
The service, which was filmed at the Royal Albert Hall, will feature performances by James Blunt, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and the Kingdom Choir, as well as readings by celebrities and veterans.
The photo of Prince Louis, who is fifth in line to the throne, was taken at the family's country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, where they are spending the festive season.
The young prince, who is wearing a navy jumper and jeans, looks delighted as he prepares to blow out the candle on a cake decorated with red and white icing and a poppy.
The cake was made by the Poppy Cake Project, which invites people to bake and share cakes with veterans and their families as a way of showing appreciation and gratitude.
The project was launched by the Royal British Legion in 2019, and has since seen thousands of cakes baked and delivered across the UK.
The Duchess of Cambridge is a keen amateur photographer, and often releases photos of her children on special occasions.
She recently shared a portrait of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to mark their father, Prince William's 40th birthday.
The photo showed the three children smiling and hugging their dad, who is second in line to the throne.
The royal family will celebrate Christmas privately this year, following the government's coronavirus guidelines.
They usually spend the festive period at Sandringham, the Queen's estate in Norfolk, where they attend a church service and greet well-wishers.
However, this year, the Queen and Prince Philip will remain at Windsor Castle, where they have been isolating since March.
They will be joined by some members of their family, but it is not clear who will be in their Christmas bubble.
The royal family has also cancelled their annual Christmas broadcast, which is usually aired on BBC One on Christmas Day.
Instead, they will release a pre-recorded message on their social media platforms, wishing the nation a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
