Taylor Swift looked chic in a leather trench coat as she joined her BFF Selena Gomez and actor Miles Teller for a dinner in New York City on Tuesday night. The pop star, who was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year for 2023, appeared to have skipped the prestigious ceremony that took place earlier that day.
Swift had flown back to New York from Kansas City, Missouri, where she had spent Sunday cheering on her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. She had also been spotted wearing a mask and gloves as she walked around the city.
The 34-year-old singer did not seem to mind missing out on the Time gala, which honored her achievements and contributions to music, culture, and society. Instead, she focused on celebrating her birthday a day early with her friends at the swanky members-only club Zero Bond.
The group — excluding Gomez — were first photographed stepping out of a black luxury SUV as they walked up to the club. Keleigh Sperry, Teller's wife, led the way and Swift followed close behind.
Swift stood out in her striking tan leather trench coat, which featured epaulettes and fit loosely over her svelte frame. She wore the belt twist tied, but also buttoned up to stay extra toasty on the chilly evening.
Her look underneath was mostly covered up by a black ensemble that peeked out from her coat. She accessorized with a pair of earrings and a ring.
Teller also looked stylish in a black suit with a white shirt and tie. He wore his hair slicked back and his beard trimmed neatly.
Gomez opted for a more casual look in a white crop top and jeans. She wore her blonde hair in loose waves and added some sparkle with gold jewelry.
The trio enjoyed their dinner at the club, which is known for its high-end clientele and exclusive events. They were seen chatting animatedly and laughing together.
According to sources close to the group, they had planned this outing for weeks as part of Taylor's birthday celebration. They wanted to surprise her with an intimate gathering of their closest friends before she turned 35.
One source told E! News: "Taylor loves spending time with Selena and Miles because they are like family to her. They have been through so much together over the years and they always support each other no matter what."
Another source added: "Taylor is very grateful for all the love and recognition she has received from Time Magazine this year. But she also knows how important it is to have fun with your friends when you can. She wanted to make this birthday special for herself by doing something different from what everyone else was doing."
The source also revealed that Taylor had received several gifts from her friends before she left Kansas City on Sunday. Among them were flowers from Selena, chocolates from Miles, and jewelry from Keleigh.
"They all wanted to make sure that Taylor felt appreciated and spoiled on her birthday," the source said. "She was so touched by their gestures that she decided not to go back to New York right away."
Instead, she flew back later on Tuesday night after spending some quality time with Travis in Kansas City. She then joined Selena, Miles, Keleigh at Zero Bond for dinner before heading home.
Taylor has not posted anything about her birthday celebration on social media yet. However, fans are already showering her with birthday wishes online.
