A Miami man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly tried to kidnap a four-year-old boy from his parents at a CVS store.
According to the police, the suspect, identified as Nicolas Sternaman, 32, approached the boy and his mother while they were shopping at the CVS on Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 36th Street around 11 a.m.
Sternaman grabbed the boy by the arm and attempted to drag him out of the store, but the boy’s father, who was nearby, intervened and tackled Sternaman to the ground.
The father held Sternaman until the police arrived and took him into custody. The boy was not injured in the incident.
Sternaman faces charges of attempted kidnapping, battery, and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond.
The police are investigating the motive behind the kidnapping attempt and whether Sternaman has any prior criminal history. They are also reviewing the surveillance footage from the store to gather more evidence.
The boy’s parents, who wished to remain anonymous, thanked the police and the CVS staff for their quick response and assistance. They said they were grateful that their son was safe and unharmed.
