Roman Kemp, the popular host of Capital Breakfast, has announced that he will be leaving the show after seven years to pursue new opportunities in television. He will be replaced by Jordan North, who recently quit Radio One’s Going Home show.

Kemp, 30, has been the main presenter of Capital Breakfast since 2017, alongside co-hosts Sian Welby and Chris Stark. He has also appeared on TV shows such as I’m A Celebrity, Gogglebox, and The One Show, where he is a regular contributor.

According to The Sun, Kemp has decided to focus on his TV career and has received multiple offers from BBC and ITV. A source told the newspaper: “Roman has loved his time at Capital FM and it has been a huge learning curve for him over the years. But he feels now is the right time to pass the baton to someone else.”

North, 34, is best known for his stint on Radio One, where he hosted the legendary Going Home show for a decade. He also gained fame as a contestant on I’m A Celebrity in 2020, where he finished as a runner-up. He announced his departure from Radio One on Friday, saying that he was “ready for a new challenge”.

North will join Capital Breakfast in March, taking over the slot from 6am to 10am on weekdays. He said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Capital Breakfast. It’s such an iconic show and I can’t wait to work with Sian and Chris. They are both brilliant broadcasters and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun together.”

Capital Breakfast is one of the most listened-to radio shows in the UK, reaching over 3.5 million listeners every week. It features the latest music, celebrity interviews, and entertainment news. Kemp’s last show is expected to air in late February, while North’s first show is scheduled for March 4.
