Raleigh, North Carolina, April 10, 2024 — Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema had some strong words for the organizers of J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival after facing major sound issues during his set. The two-day festival, held at Dorothea Dix Park, featured a star-studded lineup that included heavyweights like Nicki MinajScHoolboy QSexyy RedLil Yachty, and Rae Sremmurd.

Mic Troubles and Frustration

Taking the stage on day two, Rema’s frustration became evident as his microphone repeatedly malfunctioned while performing his smash hit, “Calm Down.” The artist, visibly annoyed, addressed the crowd: “These sound issues are messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this at all. It’s too messed up. I’m representing Africa, and this is unacceptable. Can’t the sound be perfect for every artist on this stage?”

A Premature Exit

Despite his efforts to soldier on, the technical glitches persisted. Eventually, Rema made the difficult decision to cut his set short and walked off the stage. Fans were left disappointed, and questions arose about the festival’s sound engineering and preparation.

50 Cent’s Audacious Moment

Meanwhile, rap icon 50 Cent seized the opportunity to entertain the crowd during his own performance. Known for his candid remarks, 50 took a playful jab at Diddy and the ongoing federal investigation surrounding him. On stage, he declared, “I love you, brother, no P. Diddy. I love you—even if you’re a sex worker.” The unexpected comment elicited audible laughter from the audience, with one person on stage exclaiming, “This guy is crazy!”

J. Cole’s Hometown Tribute

Before the festival kicked off, J. Cole received a heartfelt tribute in his nearby hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. A massive mural, created by New York-based graffiti artist Andaluz The Artist, now graces the side of a record store in downtown Fayetteville. The larger-than-life portrait of J. Cole stands next to the phrase, “Welcome to Fayetteville,” with each letter adorned by images reflecting the city’s rich history and Cole’s Dreamville label.

Andaluz shared the finished mural on Instagram, writing, “Tag J. Cole and let him know I just wrapped up this piece in his hometown. The community was really loving and embracing.” As fans continue to celebrate J. Cole’s impact on the music world, the Dreamville Festival remains a memorable chapter in the artist’s journey. 🎤🎨🌟
