Residents of Riangari village in Embu County were left horrified after the decomposing body of a missing woman was discovered under her neighbor's bed. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Lilian Nkatha, had gone missing on Sunday, May 19, sparking a frantic search by her family and authorities.

Nkatha was last seen alive in the company of her neighbor, a casual laborer in the area, on Sunday morning. However, when she failed to return home that evening, her family grew concerned and initiated a search. Despite their efforts, Nkatha remained missing until Wednesday, May 22, when residents noticed flies and a foul smell emanating from the neighbor's house.

Upon investigation, the police made a gruesome discovery: Nkatha's body was found brutally murdered and concealed under the bed. She had suffered head, neck, and hand injuries, indicating that she had been tortured before her death.

The family expressed frustration with local authorities, alleging that their calls for assistance in the search for Nkatha had been ignored. Despite their efforts to involve a local administrator, their pleas fell on deaf ears, leaving them to navigate the ordeal alone.

Meanwhile, the suspect, believed to be the neighbor, is currently on the run, prompting a manhunt by the police. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about safety and security in the area.

In a separate incident in Bomet County, another woman's body was discovered by her neighbor. Faith Kerubo was found dead in her house, wrapped in a blanket and fully dressed. Police suspect foul play and have launched an investigation into her death.

As both communities grapple with these tragic losses, residents are left demanding justice for the victims and calling for improved safety measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
