Susan Buckner, the actress who won hearts as the spirited cheerleader Patty Simcox in the iconic film “Grease,” has passed away at the age of 72. Her family announced that she died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at her home in Miami on May 2nd.


Born on January 28, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, Buckner’s journey to stardom began when she was crowned Miss Washington in 1971. She then graced the Miss America pageant the following year, showcasing her poise and beauty on a national stage.

Buckner’s career took off as she appeared on popular variety shows such as “The Mac Davis Show,” “Sonny and Cher,” and “The Dean Martin Show.” However, it was her role in the 1978 movie musical “Grease” alongside Olivia Newton-John that cemented her place in Hollywood history.
