Homa Bay County, Kenya – Tragedy struck in Oyugis Town when political activist Evans Okoda was found brutally murdered. His lifeless body was discovered dumped outside his home on Friday, April 3. Okoda, a familiar figure known for taking up security roles in clubs, private events, and even leading security for prominent politicians, met a gruesome end at his residential compound.
The shocking discovery revealed that some of Okoda’s body parts, including his hand and tongue, were missing, indicating a painful death. The community has been left in fear and panic following this heinous act.
Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero, who had worked closely with Okoda during the 2022 General Election campaign period, expressed his grief and called for swift action. In a statement, Kidero urged the authorities to investigate the crime thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice. He emphasized that Okoda’s murder had sent a chilling message to residents in Homa Bay County, raising concerns about violence .
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the family of Kisii-based political activist Duke Nyabaro demanded a thorough investigation into his mysterious death. Nyabaro, a well-known blogger, had expressed fear in the days leading up to his demise. His cousin revealed that Nyabaro had posted on social media about unnamed individuals threatening his life.
As the community mourns the loss of these activists, questions remain about the safety and security of those who advocate for change and justice in Kenya. Authorities must act swiftly to ensure justice for both Okoda and Nyabaro, and to prevent further violence in the region.
